What you need to apply

Money

Original bank certificate of at least USD 10,000 in your or a parent's name, issued within 30 days of applying.

Education

High school completed or equivalent.

Health

Applicants from high-risk TB countries add a TB certificate with chest X-ray.

Country rules

We found no other nationality rules on KNU's English pages; the Korean-language pages couldn't be checked.

Housing

Dormitory details weren't available on the pages we could read. Daegu rents are well below Seoul.

Route to a degree

Over 90% of graduates continue to KNU undergraduate study, and level 6 prepares for degree study. We didn't find a formal TOPIK waiver. See our Kyungpook guide, including its new Global Liberal Studies division.

Refunds

Full refund before the term, then pro-rated; postponement isn't allowed. No specific visa-refusal rule.

Our view

What this really means

Lower tuition, lower rent and a proven route into a national university degree. A good fit for budget-conscious students who don't need to be in Seoul.
