What this really means

You only have 11 days after preliminary admission to get apostilled originals to Seoul, and Ewha says it won't extend the deadline for apostille delays. If you apply by Oct 8, start your apostille now so it's ready by mid-November.

Language: the most open policy among top universities

Most freshmen

No score required

You can apply to most majors without TOPIK or English scores. A Korean score is optional, and helps with scholarships.

International Studies

TOEFL 80 / IELTS 6.0

Or New TEPS 326, or a high school education entirely in English. TOEFL MyBest isn't accepted; IELTS Indicator is.

What happens after you're admitted

Except for International Studies and Nursing, every freshman spends at least a year in the Global Scholars Program at Ewha's HOKMA College, studying Korean and general courses. You need TOPIK 3 to enter your major, with course limits until then, and TOPIK 4 to graduate, even if you were admitted with English.

English-taught majors

In Scranton College's Division of International Studies, all major courses are taught in English, though some required general courses may be in Korean. The TOPIK 4 graduation rule doesn't apply here.

International Studies

All major courses in English.

Global Korean Studies

All major courses in English.

Who can apply?

Nationality

Women with non-Korean nationality whose parents are also non-Korean, with foreign nationality obtained before high school. Anyone who held Korean nationality must have given it up before the application period.

Education

High school graduation by Feb 2027 (Mar 2027 for Japanese schools). The GED, equivalency tests, homeschooling and cyber schooling aren't accepted.

You can apply to one program only. If a parent with custody has remarried a Korean citizen, the applicant isn't eligible for this track.

Scholarships: you have to ask

Don't miss this step

Most Ewha scholarships are only awarded to applicants who fill in the scholarship application form and upload it with the online application. TOPIK scholarships only count a score submitted during the application period.

Is Ewha a good fit for you?

A strong fit for women who want a top Seoul university and are ready to learn Korean during a structured first year.

Still possible now: no score is needed for most majors and the deadline is Oct 8, so you can apply this month.

Think twice if you want every course in English outside International Studies.
